We’re looking for an ambitious, smart and innovative Product Owner & Tech Manager – a strong analytical thinker with attention to detail that loves tech – to join our team and help us build the technology to change the way people send and receive parcels. You have the experience and capability to be the product owner, project manager and lead the team of developer to ensure a smooth, fast and agile development processes. What you do

You will be the tech lead and your primary responsibility will be to manage (and further build) the team of developers – in the Netherlands and South Africa – that are building our innovative, robust logistics platform. You will create the development roadmap together with the CTO. You will test and improve of our current systems and design and create new products and features. You will oversee the maintenance of our technical products. You will be part of the management team and report directly to our CTO.

  • You make sure your teams have the right number of people and capacity to achieve the goals on their roadmap
  • Manage, delegate tasks to, organize, mentor and motivate a team of talented software developers
  • Create a development roadmap
  • Write detailed technical requirements
  • You’re responsible for recruiting, hiring, and supervising team members.
  • You monitor the continuous developments, best practices, and delivery
  • Test and improve existing systems
  • Design new products
  • Develop prototypes
  • Evaluate solution alternatives
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in all areas of technology and instil the principles of this culture in a team of developers

What we’re looking for

You enjoy working in a young, agile and dynamic team but can also work independently and take initiative and ownership on projects. You are a strong leader and need to be passionate about building world-class solutions and offering the best possible customer experience. This means that you are user focused and understand the need of people who use our services. Because we are a fast growing start-up you need to be able to work under pressure, cope with change and have a solution driven, entrepreneurial mind set.

  • You’re smart and you work and think at a university level. You’ve completed your education, preferably in the field of Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or Mathematics
  • You have at least 5 years of relevant experience as a technical team lead/manager of a Development group
  • You have experience as a hiring manager, and with the on boarding process for new colleagues
  • You’re skilled at coaching and improving the leadership skills of team leads
  • You have strong engineering skills and you have demonstrable experience as a developer
  • Scrum and Agile no longer hold any secrets from you
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to determine software requirements, and deliver effective solutions
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
  • Team player
  • Good organizational and time-management skills
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills
  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
