We’re looking for an ambitious and driven Financial Manager – possessing a robust financial acumen, deep-set analytical skills, and an entrepreneurial mindset – to join us in changing the way people send and receive parcels. You will be part of the senior leadership team and will assist on both a strategic and operational level. What you do

You will assist in crafting the overall financial strategy of the business, and will furthermore be responsible for the  day-to-day management of the finances of the company. You will report directly to the CEO of the business. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting pertaining to all bank accounts
  • Weekly/monthly bank reconciliations and preparation of payments to be released by management
  • Reviewing/maintenance of trade receivables to identify unallocated transactions or overdue balances
  • Preparing monthly management accounts (i.e. income statements, balance sheets, variance analyses, and cash flow statements), for shareholder reporting purposes
  • Monthly journal capturing and general ledger account reconciliations (pre-payments, accruals, salaries, inter-group loans, fixed assets, etc.) 
  • Weekly/monthly reconciliations of revenue and cost of sales between inventory system, accounting system, and merchant database for the purposes of the weekly and monthly sales reports
  • Preparing annual and periodic budgets and/or cash flow forecasts, for financial management and shareholder reporting purposes
  • Preparing of VAT returns and reviewing the validity of invoices before capturing same
  • The crafting of a robust pricing model for the business and performing periodical pricing analyses / exercises per existing and / or prospective client
  • Preparing annual audit for external audit firm, including closing off, liaising with auditors, preparation of financial statements and presenting results to directors
  • The internal ongoing audit of Pargo’s systems in use to identify loop holes/errors/problem areas and report findings and solutions to directors

What we’re looking for

  • A self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and who is comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment
  • 3-5 years’ bookkeeping / accounting / financial management experience
  • A practical understanding of familiarity with international financial reporting standards (“IFRS”)
  • A high attention to detail and results-oriented mindset
  • An appropriate tertiary qualification (minimum qualification: BHons Accounting)
  • An understanding of the South African regulatory and business environment
  • An ability to prioritise appropriately and to manage deadlines effectively
  • Understanding of finance management software such as Xero and Pastel
  • Advanced level excel skills
