The great savings benefit of Click & Collect

Click & Collect, or ‘buy online, pickup in-store’ (BOPIS), is a great cost-saver for businesses and shoppers.
Understandably, it has become hugely popular as a result. In the US last year, Click & Collect sales amounted to more than $1-billion (R17-billion).
Today, the model is a big part of retailers’ strategies because of its cost-saving benefit.
The supply journey is incredibly expensive for retailers, in particular last-mile delivery. To give you some idea, 53% of total shopping costs are attributed to the last mile.
When demand spikes, quality infrastructure needs to be integrated into the shipping process to handle the orders, and these expenses are substantial.
The upshot is that costs are then passed on to consumers, who more often than not take their business elsewhere.
Click & Collect helps mitigate these price challenges for both the customer and the consumer.
Because consolidated deliveries are made to Pickup Points, the cost of deliveries is reduced. Pargo has more than 3 500 Pickup Points around South Africa, meaning that costs are brought down even further.
There are also savings on the packaging, as parcels require less when customers opt for Click & Collect as opposed to conventional delivery methods.
It goes without saying that this makes the process a lot more environmentally-friendly too.
Costs are also saved in that parcels almost always reach their destination – Pargo boasts a 100% delivery success rate – negating the need for retailers to fork out unnecessary money on return trips in cases where deliveries are missed.
