Pargo And Avon Gets South Africa Walking For Breast Cancer Awareness

1 in 25 South African women develops breast cancer. This is why massive awareness campaigns like the Avon Justine iThemba Walkathon are so essential. During this annual event, thousands of South Africans come together in their pink outfits to raise awareness for breast cancer and to encourage women to go for regular screenings.
Like last year, the upcoming iThemba walkathon will be decentralised to encourage social distancing. This means anyone can join the fun wherever they are and connect with fellow participants through the power of social media. The first 10,000 entrants will receive a gift bag filled with goodies from Avon and Pargo.
With participants taking the walk all across South Africa, Avon partnered with the smart logistics company, Pargo to easily distribute these gift bags through the far-reaching Pargo Pickup Point network. Due to this partnership, entrants can have their gift bag delivered to a participating Pargo Pickup Point of their choice at no additional cost.
Michaela Gabriel, Head of Marketing at Pargo, explains:
“It is an absolute privilege to partner with Avon for such an amazing cause. Our extensive network of pickup points, located in popular stores like Clicks, allow entrants to easily collect their gift bags wherever they are, whenever they want to.”
Though typically associated with the delivery of ecommerce goods through Click and Collect, Pargo Pickup Points are utilised as a distribution network for a variety of industries. During the nationwide lockdown and the subsequent shift to remote learning, for instance, South Africa’s top universities used these pickup points to send study materials to under-digitised students.
Many digital banks without branches, such as the recently launched Bank Zero, use Pargo Pickup Points to easily distribute their bank cards to customers.
Michaela continues,
“Pargo is a solutions-driven logistics business. We are continually exploring new ways to leverage our pickup point network to meet the unique last-mile delivery needs of South Africa. It puts an extra big smile on our faces if we can use our infrastructure for a good cause. We encourage our partners and customers to join the iThemba Walkathon to raise awareness for breast cancer.”
