Cape Union Mart joins the Pargo Click and Collect movement

Cape Union Mart, South Africa’s favourite outdoor adventure store have partnered with Pargo, South Africa’s leading Click and Collect service provider, to launch Click and Collect. With this strategic move, the 85-year-old family business ensures that their online shoppers can buy online and collect from any store within the group, including Cape Union Mart, Keedo, Tread and Miller, Poetry and Old Khaki. Cape Union Mart joins forward-thinking companies around the world who have already implemented Click and Collect, and understand the importance of offering innovative and convenient multi-channel delivery options.

Cape Union Mart’s forward-thinking approach to ecommerce will not only allow their customers to collect their parcels within their own network, but also enable Cape Union Mart to serve all clients living in major cities, as well as in the smallest towns in South Africa via any of Pargo’s over 2200 pick-up points. These can even be found in the smallest South African towns like Kathu, Graafwater and Kagisano-Molopo.

Customers that prefer convenience and control, and not willing or able to receive a home delivery can choose the Click and Collect option on the Cape Union Mart check-out page. They have the option between ‘Collect in Store’, which is free and allows online shoppers to choose any store within the Cape Union Mart group. Or they can pay a small fee and collect their parcels from one of the Pargo Pick-up Points.

The Cape Union Mart customer uptake of the new Click & Collect service have been rapid, and the growth rate very steady. Since the soft-launch of Click and Collect thousands of parcels have been delivered within the network. Cape Union Mart is setting an important example for South Africa’s ecommerce industry, by adopting a new practical and innovative delivery method, thereby increasing reach and revenue via upselling opportunities in their stores. According to global statistics, an estimated 36% of customers make an additional purchase when picking up products in the store that they ordered online.

Due to Africa-specific delivery challenges like difficult to reach rural areas,  townships without addresses and people living in security estates, Click and Collect services otherwise known as shopping online and picking up in store, have grown exponentially over the last few years.
